Radiothon Raises Over $107,700 for Oklahoma's Children

Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - Campus News -

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals supporters and 96.1 KXY listeners teamed up to make a difference in the health care of Oklahoma's children. The 2012 KXY Loves Kids Radiothon held on November 8th and 9th raised $107,742 for Oklahoma's children.

In just two days, the CMN Hospitals event benefiting Children's Hospital Foundation raised awareness and funds with the support of KXY morning DJ's Bill Reed and Patti Garrett. During the KXY Loves Kids Radiothon, local listeners had the opportunity to hear heartwarming stories from miracle kids who are dedicated to speaking about the importance of research, education and clinical care.

Funds were raised throughout the KXY Loves Kids Radiothon via a volunteer phone panel, pre-pledges and on-air raffles. Many people passing through the Children's Atrium were so moved by what they were witnessing, that they too decided to donate. Donations and pledges ensure that Oklahoma's children receive the best pediatric care without leaving the state.
"Every year the KXY Loves Kids listeners faithfully call and make their pledges to help the sick children of Oklahoma," said Jan Dunham, CMN Hospitals Director. "The KXY DJ's host for 24 hours tirelessly and encourage people to help end childhood illnesses by giving to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. We are so grateful to those who gave a onetime pledge and those who became a KXY Loves Kids Club Member at $15 a month. We want to also thank the generous sponsors who joined together to make this year's Radiothon a wonderful success."

Without the help of the generous community and the KXY Loves Kids Radiothon sponsors, 96.1 KXY, The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center, University Hospitals Authority and Trust, OU Children's Physicians, Frontier State Bank, Love's Travel Stops, Westlake Ace Hardware, Credit Unions for Kids, AT&T Pioneers and KOCO Channel 5, the ability to provide world class health care to all children in Oklahoma would not be possible.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness while keeping 100 percent of donations in the community where they are raised.  Children's Hospital Foundation is a proud affiliate of CMN Hospitals and is dedicated to providing funding for pediatric programs in research, education and clinical care for Oklahoma's children.
