Dual Fellowship-Trained Neuro-Oncology Surgeon Joins the Stephenson Cancer Center

Chad A. Glenn, M.D., a dual fellowship-trained skull base and neuro-oncology surgeon, joins the Comprehensive Brain Tumor Program at the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is also an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in the OU College of Medicine.                                                                                                 

As a high-volume neuro-oncology surgeon, Glenn treats malignancies of the brain with a special focus in skull base tumors, pituitary tumors and gliomas.

Glenn specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques, like keyhole surgery and expanded endoscopic endonasal approaches to the skull base. Additionally, he is the only neurosurgeon in the state who performs laser interstitial thermal therapy, an advanced technique performed by implanting a laser catheter into hard-to-reach brain tumors and using heat to kill it.

In addition, he has a strong background in academic medicine and clinical research. He has authored and co-authored 46 peer-reviewed publications as well as presented at 27 national and international conferences.

Glenn will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts in the Brain Tumor program, including the state’s only two board-certified neuro-oncologists, James Battiste, M.D., Ph.D. and Sara Sung, M.D. He will also participate in the multiple clinical trials offered at the Stephenson Cancer Center.

Glenn has completed two fellowships in neurosurgery, including a skull base surgery fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, with Nicholas Bambakidis, M.D., a nationally recognized leader in acoustic neuroma treatment. Glenn also previously completed a minimally invasive skull base surgery fellowship at the Stephenson Cancer Center under the direction of Michael Sughrue, M.D., a world-renowned neuro-oncology surgeon.

Prior to this training, Glenn completed a neurological surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA, and an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University–Agricultural & Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, LA.
