Professional Practice Gap: Thrombectomy is a major therapy in acute cerebral infarctions, but it is not well studied in those of advanced age (>79 years) or those with preadmission disability (modified Rankin Scale >2).

1. Describe the role of mechanical thrombectomy in acute infarction.
2. Define modified Rankin Scale (mRS).
3. Describe the TAPPED study.
4. Review current literature on thrombectomy in those with advanced age and the mRS criteria.
