OU Department of Surgery represented at Annual Western Trauma Association meeting

The Department of Surgery from OU Health Sciences center had a significant presence at the recent 49th Annual Western Trauma Association meeting March 3-8 in Snowmass, Colorado.

Dr. Roxie M. Albrecht, OU Professor and Vice Chair of Quality, Trauma Medical Director, was the President presiding over the meeting and provided her Presidential Address: Duty and What Really Matters: Profession and Self.

OU had three presentations on the program and Dr. Albrecht participated in the Military/Civilian Panel of Experts:

Dr. Kayla Watkins, PGY 4 Surgery: A Bone to Pick: An Unusual Case of Traumatic Small Bowel Injury

Dr. Ryan Kennedy, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Dr. Oscar Talledo, PGY4 Surgery and Dr. Ruben Villanueva, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy: Clinical and Administrative Sciences had a plenary oral presentation: Vancomycin Dosing in Critically Ill Trauma Patients: The VANCTIC Study

Dr. Roxie Albrecht also was co-author and sponsored a plenary oral presentation by Justin Robbins, MS3: Removal of Retrievable Inferior Vena Cava Filters Before Initial Hospital Discharge is it Associated with Increased Venous Thromboembolism Complications?
