Pediatric Specialists Offer Informative Talk on Concussions

Oklahoma Children's Hospital OU Health pediatric specialists will present "Concussions: Prevention, Diagnosis & Treatments" at a virtual event, noon to 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 29.

Concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a hit to the head or body which can occur in sports, vehicle accidents, or falls. The diagnosis of concussion can be challenging because symptoms can be delayed from onset of injury. Learn more about the signs, symptoms and treatment options for pediatric and adolescent concussion injuries from Oklahoma Children's Hospital experts.

Ashley McAllister, M.D., sports medicine pediatrician, and Brittany Poinson, M.D., pediatric neurologist, will share important information about prevention and treatment, as well as return to play.
