Carrie S. Mcclain Named Assistant Vice President for University Community-OUHSC

At their March meeting, the OU Board of Regents named Carrie S. McClain, MHR, LPC as Assistant Vice President for University Community-OUHSC.  Carrie earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. Following completion of her Master’s, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor, working with adolescents and young adults from diverse backgrounds.  Carrie joined the OUHSC in April 2016, as Director of University Community-OUHSC, and has worked with campus constituencies and external entities to strengthen the Health Sciences Center’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. 

As Assistant Vice President for University Community she will provide collaborative leadership with the OUHSC academic deans and other campus leaders to strengthen the campus’ initiatives to increase the diversity of the student body, faculty and staff.  In this expanded role she will oversee the three University Community Divisions of Community Engagement, Recruitment, and HSC Engagement, and will work closely with the Student Services offices in the OUHSC colleges, OUHSC Student Affairs, OUHSC Human Resources, and with OU Norman campus resources.    Carrie is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Oklahoma Counseling Association.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for Infinite Possibilities.
