OU Children’s Physicians Announces Addition of Hematologist

Janna M. Journeycake, M.D., a pediatric hematologist, has joined the staff of OU Children's Physicians. She sees patients at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Children. She has also been named an assistant professor with the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.


Journeycake specializes in diagnosing and treating pediatric patients with blood disorders, including sickle cell disease. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology. She comes to the Jimmy Everest Center from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where she was an associate professor and director of the Bleeding Disorders and Thrombosis Program of the Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.


Journeycake completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology and served as chief fellow at the UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed a pediatric residency and served as chief resident at the OU College of Medicine, where she also earned her medical degree. She earned a master of science degree in clinical science at UT Southwestern.


Journeycake is a member of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, American Society of Hematology and the Society for Pediatric Research.
